Current Opportunity: Estimator

Due to ongoing growth, ADS Laser Cutting is seeking a highly motivated Estimator to join its team.

Role Overview

The Estimator plays a pivotal role in understanding customer requirements and preparing high-quality, accurate, and detailed job costing estimates within defined timeframes. This position demands a blend of technical knowledge, analytical thinking, precision, effective communication, and a customer-focused mindset to support profitability and the company’s continued success.

Job requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate quotations upon receipt of customer enquiries, aligned with targeted profit margins.

  • Prepare and deliver customer quotes efficiently and on time.

  • Communicate with customers to clarify specific requirements and ensure all interactions are appropriately documented.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the HubSpot CRM system.

  • Ensure all customer needs are met with high-quality pricing and technical information.

  • Conduct quote follow-up calls and apply negotiation skills to secure orders.

  • Adhere to deadlines for returning pricing information to customers.

  • Source and assess external supplier pricing when required.

  • Collaborate with the Sales & Marketing team to identify and pursue new opportunities.

  • Enhance the company’s reputation by contributing to positive customer experiences.

  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients, including handling queries and requests.

  • Provide support to the Sales & Marketing team through direct customer engagement when required.

Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes

  • Proven experience in estimating within the sheet metal and fabrication industry, particularly involving fabrication, laser cutting, and folding.

  • Competence in preparing and issuing RFQ packages and evaluating supplier quotations both commercially and technically.

  • Strong commercial awareness with experience in fixed-price, target-cost, and reimbursable estimating.

  • Proficiency in arithmetic and computing, including Outlook, Excel, and Trutops Fab.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of independent problem-solving.

  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to quality.

  • Professional, courteous, and trustworthy demeanor.

  • Strong customer service, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
