Field Service Compressor Engineer

Direct Air is seeking a Field Service Compressor Engineer with either a mechanical or electrical bias to join its expanding compressed air service team. The company is based in Coventry and Cheltenham but provides service support to facilities nationwide.

The Role
The Field Service Compressor Engineer will carry out preventative and reactive maintenance, fault finding, and repairs on all types of industrial compressed air equipment. Responsibilities include attending call-outs to customer sites, both during and outside normal working hours, to resolve breakdowns; participating in manufacturer training courses as required; and delivering work to the highest standard to strengthen customer relationships.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential. The Engineer will prepare and submit completed job sheets in both paper and electronic formats, maintain effective communication with colleagues and customers, and identify and recommend system or product upgrades to the Sales team.

Key Competencies

  • Excellent communication skills with experience in mechanical and electrical fault-finding.

  • Ability to work safely in compliance with current Health and Safety legislation.

  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for the role and can work unsupervised.

  • A patient, methodical approach.

  • Willingness to work away from home and occasionally at weekends.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematic drawings and diagrams.

  • Willingness to participate in the on-call rota providing 24-hour customer support.

  • Installation experience (desirable but not essential).

  • Full, valid driver’s licence and safe driving record.

  • Experience or awareness of compressed air systems (desirable).

Overtime, call-out payments, and a service engineer bonus scheme are offered in addition to the basic salary.

  • Salary: £22,000.00 – £40,000.00 per year (depending on experience)

  • Full-time, permanent role

  • 22–24 days holiday plus statutory bank holidays per year

  • Standard 40-hour working week
